Bombay School
- Bombay's first school was opened in 1865 within a few months of the settlers arriving in the district. It was a humble place, being a large square tent fronting the Bombay-Paparata Road in the south-east corner of what is now A. Wilcox's property. Mr S. Breach, who had chosen a 10 acre grant nearby was the teacher. It is not known how much the children had to pay to attend this school, but as soon as the Colonial Government withdrew its offer of casual employment on the Great South Road in 1866, the school closed down, presumably from lack of funds
- On April 10th, 1872, at a meeting in St. Peter's Church, the following were elected the first School Committee under the Auckland Board of Education
