- Palmerston North held its 75th Jubilee Celebrations during the week of 15th March 1952. Shown here is a Newmans Coach. The building that the bus is moving past is the Soldier's Club on the corner of George Street and Cuba Street, still standing today [2016] though it now operates as a cafe.

Newmans Coach Lines
- Began in 1879 with brothers Tom and Harry Newman offering a horse-drawn coach service delivering mail around the Nelson region.
- The business grew rapidly and expanded to include passenger services, at first throughout the South Island and later into the North Island.
- In 1911 the first motor vehicle - a four-cylinder Cadillac - was introduced and in 1918 the last horse-drawn carriage was retired from service.
Palmerston North
- A city in the North Island
- Located in the eastern Manawatu Plains
- Near the north bank of the Manawatu River
- Early Palmerston North relied on public works and sawmilling.
- The west coast railway was built in 1886, linking the town to Wellington
- Palmerston North benefited from a booming pastoral farming industry.
- Popular attractions include Te Manawa and several performing arts
