Whanganui
- Whanganui, also spelled Wanganui
- Whanganui means "big bay" or "big harbour" in Maori
- The first European traders arrived in 1831
- The name of the city was officially changed to Wanganui in 1854.
- Wanganui was the site of the New Zealand Police Law Enforcement System (LES) from 1976 to 1995.
