Cobden Bridge
- First bridge made of NZ kauri and didn't last.
- Opened 1886.
- Second bridge opened 1920 on same cylinders using Aust hard woods

Greymouth
- The largest town in the West Coast region
- The population of the whole Grey District is 13,750
- The Greymouth urban area had an estimated population of 9,700 (June 2018).
- Greymouth has a history of coal and gold mining.
- Later, forestry became a new staple industry.
- Fishing has long been important to the town.
- Greymouth was regularly flooded.
