New Zealand - Pakuranga
- William Massey steams along, Pakuranga, 1916
- Prime Minister William Ferguson Massey drives a traction engine over the new Tamaki bridge between Panmure and Pakuranga, 14 August 1916. Mr Massey opened the bridge at the invitation of the Manukau County Council, which had financed most of its cost. The County chairman, Mr H.R Mackenzie, invited Mr Massey, who had been an agricultural contractor in his younger days, to drive a traction engine across. An admiring reporter noted: "he piloted the ponderous machine across the bridge, with ease, showing that after the lapse of over a couple of decades his hand had not lost his skill. Mr Massey's action was loudly cheered, and the impromptu conclusion to the ceremony was greatly appreciated by the crowd."
