Nga Tapuwae College, Mangere
- Opened in February 1976
- It was intended from the start to be a 'community college', and extensive community facilities were developed over the years.
- A combined school and public library was opened in February 1978.
- The youth centre, arts and craft block, gymnasium, sports fields, and audio-visual lecture theatre were equally intended for both school and community use.
- Unfortunately the school encountered difficulties in later years, and in January 1995 the Minister of Education, Lockwood Smith, sacked the Board of Trustees.
- In February 1997 Te Taki O Autahi Southern Cross Campus was formed by the amalgamation of Nga Tapuwae College, Mangere Intermediate School, and Southern Cross Primary School; along with the separately run Te Kura Rumaki Maori.
